016; It's late.

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008.
Tech. center.
Not sleeping.

I have the worse sleep schedule ever.

We raided earlier today. Got a few more things that would expire soon. I've actually spent all afternoon eating cream cheese. Is that gross?

Kaylen came up to me as we were storing the food earlier and she asked me if what we were doing was stealing.

How do I explain to my little sister that there is noone left to steal from?

This world isn't the place I ever wanted her to grow up in.

Of course, I didn't want anyone to grow up like this. I had plans. We all did.

Everyone had plans: college, marriage, cars to buy, places to see, people to talk to, kids to have. Now, now nothing is the same, will ever be the same.

What a world.

Stay safe.

015: New Fence.

Monday, October 27th, 2008.
Tech. Center.
Resting.

It's finally done.

We have reinforced the fences around the compound and blocked off the main entrance a little better. We can still get out, but it's a bitch to get in.

That's why I haven't writen in awhile. I've just been exhausted everyday.

It was worth it though. We have a little more security. Bless Home Depot.

I don't think there's much to catch up on.

Except maybe the fact that we now have a dog. Kind of silly.

We raided a nearby shopping plaza the other day and there was a pet store, with all the pets still inside. The poor things would starve.

We let the birds go. Let the cats and bunnies and weasles and most of the dogs go. The fish, we couldn't do much with them. But there was one dog, a black pug.

Now, Josh and I had been wanting a black pug for ages. Just a little puppy named Mitch Bonapart. We're weak. We couldn't just let him go. So, now we have plenty of dog food and toys to raid for too.

That was our good thing for the day, though. For the week, really, building the fence wasn't exactly a happy time.

In other news, my aim has improved drastically. I can now shoot a man in the head from 300 yards away.

...

...

...

I never thought I would ever have to say that. Much less brag about it.

Sometimes, when we all just stay here and play around and eat and relax I forget the reason why we're all here and we have to stay inside.

Hmm. I have second watch tonight, after Josh's Mom. I'd better get to bed.

Stay safe.

014; Insomnia.

Thursday, October 6th, 2008.
Tech. center.
Can't sleep.

I can't sleep, clearly. Maybe it's because today we almost relaxed. We didn't go on any raids, there wasn't any scouting, no moving, no killing. It was peaceful.

We raided the mall yesterday. Is it wrong to be happy that there was a Forever 21, and a Sears and all such? I had to get all sorts of clothes for everyone.

I found the boots I had been wanting at Sears. Silly of me.

But, really, I need something good everyday. Something normal, that I would have done in my ordinary life, or that would have made me happy even when not always on guard for attacks.

Who knows, maybe tomorrow I'll paint my nails.

I'm so tired. I can't sleep. I'm going to go. Josh has first watch tonight, I'll go keep him company till Izzy's dad takes over.

Stay safe.

013; Recap of the day.

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008.
Tech. center.
Relaxing.

So we raided the shopping plaza today. Just Josh, Izzy, and I. We didn't let anyone else come.

I don't think being scared even comes close to covering how I've felt these past days. It's a good thing I'm exhausted by the end of everyday or I'd never get any sleep.

We had to kill the school janitor when we first took over the old highschool, Mr. Gary came out of the bathrooms while we were checking out all the rooms. And then we found Izzy's older brother on the highway.

Antonio was never the best of drivers. Apparently he lost control, his car hit another then the zombies broke through his glass. Raquel recognized his car and went ahead to check (and we all had to rush after her). We found him already turned and unable to unbuckle the seat belt. Josh had to shoot him.

There were others we killed along the way, but we had to be careful, there wasn't much in the way of ammunition.

When we went out on the raid today we left all the adults armed and on watch while Raquel and Janine (henceforth known as Elmo) watched over Sammeh and Kaylen.

We took a jeep that had been left behind and filled it up when we were sure there was no one around the station. The town we're at was pretty unpopulated. There was the base, a mall, and a grocery store plaza. The homes were further out in the really suburban areas.

Anyways, Izzy drove, Josh kept a look out (armed) while sitting, and I stood in the back with a sniper rifle. Like I know how to use a fucking sniper. Really now.

Necessity does things though. I hit one of them on the third try. Practice will be needed. Or next time I'll just look out from the seat and Josh can do the sniper work.

We killed two on the way to the shopping plaza. Then three at the plaza. We loaded up on canned goods, water, and lots of cereal. We took lots of the sweets that would go bad if they weren't eaten soon. We still need sweets if we can get them.

I've decided that the next time we do a raid (hopefully tomorrow) we need to check out the mall. The mall is bound to have plenty of supplies and we'll need clothes.

Hopefully, since the attack first started at night, the mall would have been closed down. We may have to take care of some security guards but it should be relatively clear.

I'm going to bed now. I don't have watch tonight, I should get some sleep.

Stay safe.

012; Why am I writing this?

Sunday, October 12, 2008.
Somewhere safe, relatively.
Recapping.

I don't really know how to start this. I really don't know anything right now.

Okay, here's what I think I know.
  • Zombies have, in fact, taken over.
  • Mom, Dad, and Kaylen are all safe.
  • Josh's Mom and Sammeh (the paranoid weiner dog) are all safe.
  • Izzy's Mom and Dad, Raquel and Janine are all safe.
  • Antonio did not survive.
  • Everywhere we've been has been taken over.
  • We are at an evacuated military base.
  • It's colder here than in Florida.

I know I joked about using the umbrella as a weapon a while ago, but that umbrella was the only weapon I actually had. I wouldn't use the umbrella for a rainy day anymore.

I don't think I could really tell you everything that happened from the moment it became apparent what was happening. I do remember calling Josh, I remember calling home and telling them all to stay there, I remember taking the umbrella and the first aid kit and some other things that I haven't even looked at yet.

We found this base after a long while of driving and walking when we couldn't drive any longer. I won't say exactly where we are, it isn't safe.

It appears the place was evacuated when the invasion first started. We've searched every last part of the base that we can access and it all seems clean and clear. The entire facillity is fenced off but we still keep a watch.

We're staying in the main compound. We have a bunker, a mess hall, a rec room, and a room where we've set up all the weaponry. And we have a tech. center. This is the first time I've been able to get here. I'm so happy there's internet.

I need at least one dose of normalcy everyday.

I need to go now. I hear mom calling for dinner.

Tomorrow we're going on a raid of the nearby shopping plaza.

Stay safe.

011; Stay safe.

I don't have much time. I just found a computer with internet access.

Obviously you've learned that it's finally happened. Be safe. Stay away from crowded places. Urban areas are the worst. Try not to drive.

I don't know who would even be reading this.

In any case, I have to go. We're heading out tomorrow at first light. I have the late watch tonight.

I don't know where we're going. We just can't stay at the old highschool.

Be safe.
